This iced strawberry hibiscus latte came about from my desire to have something fancy during an afternoon slump, but also not wanting to give my body any caffeine. I had been thinking for a while about trying to make some sort of copycat Starbucks Pink Drink, and I decided this was the perfect opportunity.
Full disclosure: I’ve actually never had a Starbucks Pink Drink. 😂 But I have looked up the ingredients, and I think they’re pretty awful. Shocking, I know. We all know Starbucks is well known for its healthy ingredient lists. (That was sarcasm, FYI.) So since I probably will never have the real deal I figured I’d make up my own but call it something different, so as not to confuse all y’all. Hopefully it worked. At least this iced strawberry hibiscus latte turned out pretty well!
Iced Strawberry Hibiscus Latte
Strawberries. I use frozen strawberries for this drink. You can use fresh if you want. You don’t have to chop them or anything since they’re going to be blended together with the tea.
Herbs. I use a mixture of hibiscus, marshmallow root, red clover, and elderberries for this tea blend. I just made it up on the spot, there’s no rhyme or reason to the mixture. Just things I felt like having! You could leave out the marshmallow root, red clover, or elderberries if you want. The hibiscus is probably the only one that’s really important for making the drink pink in the end.
Milk. I pretty much always use fresh goat’s milk in my drinks. I think the one from Starbucks uses coconut milk, which I think would be delicious, I just don’t have any on hand. So if you want to use coconut milk or almond milk or even just regular whole milk, any of those would be great!
Sweetener. I actually don’t usually put any sweetener in this drink, because the strawberries are sweet enough. If you happen want the drink sweeter, honey is the sweetener I would suggest. I think a plain stevia would work as well if you need a lower carb option.
Options/substitutions. I have made this drink using blueberries and cherries instead of strawberries, and it’s pretty delicious too. So if you’re not a fan of strawberries, go ahead and give that a try.
More yummy nourishing drinks.
