Easy and delicious, this homemade mocha mint avocado nice cream is just what you need to fill your ice cream craving in a nourishing way. It’s an embellished version of my family-favorite chocolate avocado nice cream, and is quickly becoming a dessert staple during avocado season.

Avocados. If you’re not a fan of avocados, I’m sorry. You should probably go read a different recipe. But if you’re up for trying anything, read on! Avocados are packed with healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytosterols. And besides all that they make a deliciously creamy base for ice cream! I mean nice cream.

I use 7-8 Hass avocados for this recipe. But I have to make enough for 8 people, so if you don’t need that much you can cut the recipe in half. I have not tried this recipe with Florida avocados, so if you try that please let me know how it turns out! Of course you would probably only need half as many avocados, since the Florida variety are so big.

Coffee. You can use your favorite coffee is for this mocha mint avocado nice cream, but please remember that coffee beans are very heavily sprayed with pesticides. So please use organic if you can afford it! Some options I like are Aldi’s Simply Organic coffees and Vita Cup organic coffee (which is also mycotoxin-free) on Amazon. If you need to use decaf, then I like 365 organic decaf from Whole Foods or Wicked Joe organic French decaf.

Cocoa. I love Azure Standard’s fair-trade, organic cocoa powder for eeeeverything, but you can totally use whatever cocoa powder you like in this mocha mint nice cream.

Sweetener. This nice cream works best with a liquid sweetener. I like to use honey, but I think you could use agave or even a liquid stevia, if you need low-carb. I personally don’t think maple syrup would go very well with the peppermint flavor, but if you have tried that combo and you like it, go for it.

Peppermint. I usually use Flavorganics pure peppermint extract, which I buy from Azure Standard, but you can also get it on Amazon. But you can use whatever peppermint extract you like. Just please don’t use peppermint essential oils, as they are generally not safe to ingest.

Coconut oil. The coconut oil in this mocha mint avocado nice cream helps give a nice creamy texture. Make sure it is soft or liquid state when you add it in, though, so you don’t end up with coconut oil chunks in your nice cream.

Optionals. While I love the additions of chocolate chips and coffee grounds in my mocha mint nice cream, you can leave those out if you want. The nice cream will be just as delicious without them.

I love ice cream. Seriously. Making it from scratch is one of my favorite things! And of course I don’t want to feel guilty eating it, so I have to make it as healthy as possible. Here are a few (but not all) of my family’s favorites!
