Free from added ingredients, and quick to whip up, this easy homemade guacamole is perfect for chips, burgers, or tacos!
In all honesty, I only started liking guacamole last year. While I’ve long been a fan of anything chocolate and avocado (hello fudgesicles and ice cream), it took me a while to get used to the taste and texture of avocado by itself. But this easy homemade guacamole won me over pretty easily. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!

Easy Homemade Guacamole
Avocados. In case you needed a reason to eat avocados, just know that they are full of fat. The good kind! Avocado’s fat is mainly in the form of monounsaturated fatty acids, or MUFAs – which can block plaque buildup in the arteries, making avocados great for your heart! Avocados have lots of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytosterols like calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, manganese, phosphorus, and zinc. They also have high levels of fat-soluble vitamins A, E, and K, and water-soluble vitamins C and B (they have B1, B2, B3, and B6!).
I use Hass avocados for my easy homemade guacamole. I have no idea if that’s traditional or not, but it’s what Aldi usually carries, and that’s where I shop soooo…. Use whatever you can find, friends! And remember, organic is always the best option if you can afford it!

Lime juice. You don’t really need a lot of lime juice for this recipe. I wrote 1 teaspoon in the ingredient list, but I really just measure it with my heart, which usually equals about 1/2 a lime. You do you, if it tastes good, it’s the perfect measurement.
Onion. Also not really a measurement here. Just half a yellow onion, diced up as small as you like it, or as chunky as you like it. If you’re a huge onion fan, feel free to use the whole onion! If you’re not, just use 1/4 of it. Just keep in mind that less than that might throw off the flavor balance.
Cayenne. Secret ingredient! And it wasn’t even my idea. My 13 year old son is a guacamole fanatic, and when he was taste testing for me I asked him what he thought it needed. He walked over to the spice rack and grabbed the cayenne! So in the guacamole it went. And he was happy.

Cilantro. Cilantro is a key ingredient in guacamole, to me. If you’re one of those people who thinks it tastes like soap, I am sorry for your loss. You can still make this guacamole without it, it just won’t have that special flavor.
Note: When I mix up this easy homemade guacamole, I usually do it in my mini food processor. It makes it super quick and evenly chopped. I use this little Kitchen Aid food processor. Of course, you don’t *have* to have a food processor to make this guacamole. You can just chop up your avocados into chunks or mash them lightly with a fork in a bowl with your chopped onion and other ingredients. No big deal!
