Breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner, this banana mango smoothie is perfect! It’s packed with vitamins, minerals, and anti-inflammatory properties, too!
Summer love.
Well, summer is here, with all it’s heat and glory. I won’t say glorious heat, because I really don’t like the heat. I’m pretty sure I was built to live in Scandinavia or something like that. Not in the south where 90 is “not too hot.” Puleeeeze. I’m melting.
My only consolation when the temps get about 70 (which is verifiably perfect, btw), is smoothies. And ice cream and no-bake treats, but that’s another post… Smoothies. They’re pretty much the perfect meal when you’re too hot to think.
Got fruit? It’ll go in your smoothie.
Got veggies? They’ll probably fit in there, too.
Got spices? Add them in there!
The more things the merrier.
Banana mango smoothie.
Though I do have tooooons of options when it comes to smoothies – all delicious options – my current favs all include milk kefir. Including this yummy banana mango smoothie. Sorry dairy-free-ers: this probably isn’t the smoothie for you, though you’re welcome to try it out with coconut milk or something like that, it just won’t be as thick.
Milk kefir is a deliciously tangy beverage made from letting milk sit out on your counter overnight. Sounds healthy, doesn’t it? Kidding. Sorta. Milk kefir is a fermented drink made by culturing milk in kefir grains for 24 hours or so. It’s pretty much the easiest cultured food to make and it’s packed full of nutrition! Kefir has as many as 30 strains of good probiotic bacteria (more than yogurt!), and it also contains loads of vitamins B12 & K2, calcium, magnesium, biotin, and folate, as well as enzymes.
Fruity gooness.
Besides the goodness of kefir, this banana mango smoothie is full of other delicious health benefits! Like bananas… Famous for their potassium content, bananas also contain vitamin C, folate, magnesium, and choline.
And don’t forget the mango! One of my favorite summer fruits, mangoes are jam-packed with vitamin C and vitamin A, as well as vitamins B6, E, and K! They also have minerals like copper and potassium, as well as powerful antioxidants like quercetin, astragalin, zeaxanthin, and beta-carotene.
Anti-inflammatory benefits.
This banana mango smoothie also has some sneaky health benefits. These come from two of my favorite anti-inflammatory spices – turmeric and ginger. Turmeric is full of protein, vitamin C, calcium, iron, vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium, and manganese. It’s one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory herbs, and it is also antiseptic, and rich in antioxidants.
Ginger is also great for its anti-inflammatory benefits. It’s full of potassium, magnesium, vitamin C and B6, and phosphorus.
Smoothie favorites.
While I’ve been loving this anti-inflammatory banana mango smoothie lately, I thought I’d share a few of my other favorites, as well. They’re all packed with nutrition, and tasty to boot! My whole family enjoys them, and we feast upon their goodness regularly. Most of them are dairy-free, but those that aren’t will also have a dairy-free option. You’re welcome.
