This easy, real food Instant Pot hot cocoa makes enough for a crowd, so it’s perfect for all your holiday get-togethers! With easy paleo, vegan, and keto options, it’s safe for everyone.
Hot cocoa for all.
The holidays are a time when people loooove to get together and celebrate. Even people who wouldn’t normally hang out in crowds (me) might venture out during the holidays. Usually only for the food…
Just kidding…
Sort of…
Work parties, church parties, family get-togethers, special dinners with friends, all these are going on with a vengeance during the holidays!
Naturally you bring something to a party to share. A cheese ball, a plate of cookies, something like that… But you could bring an Instant Pot full of delicious hot cocoa!
Large family life.
Even if you don’t go out to holiday parties, and even if it’s not currently a holiday, this Instant Pot hot cocoa is still a great treat. I just so happen to have 8 people in my family, so a ‘regular’ batch (what does that even mean?) of hot chocolate doesn’t really cut it. There’s simply never enough!
This big batch of hot cocoa – meant to feed (drink?) a crowd – is perfect, though. Just enough for everyone, with a little leftover for mom and dad after the kids go to bed.
Or a little leftover for me to stir into my coffee the next day…
Naturally delicious.
Besides only serving 4-5 people, most of the hot chocolate recipes on my site are on the darker side, of chocolate, that is. This is perfect for me, but doesn’t always go over too well with people who are used to those nasty little envelopes of sugar and chocolate flavoring.
Seriously, just look at these ingredients:
I’m not even sure what most of that stuff is. But let’s not talk about that… let’s talk about this easy and delicious Instant Pot hot cocoa!
Instant Pot hot cocoa.
This Instant Pot hot cocoa is the perfect mix of sweet and cocoa, and since the IP can hold up to 10 cups, it’s easy to make enough for a crowd! Or if you just want a lot for yourself, make a whole batch and keep it on warm all day and drink whenever you get the urge. Not that I’ve ever done that…
If you want to sneak in additional goodness, whisk in a tablespoon or two of Perfect Supplements grass-fed gelatin or collagen or a teaspoon or two of peppermint extract (though peppermint isn’t that sneaky)! Top with homemade marshmallows or coconut whipped cream.
In the recipe card I’ve linked to some of the products from my affiliate partners that I like to use. Purchasing through these links won’t cost you anything extra. Thanks!
Instant Pot Hot Cocoa
Free from grain, gluten, eggs, and dairy, with refined-sugar free option.
Ingredients
- 6-8 cups milk of choice (coconut or almond for paleo/keto/vegan and GAPS diets, raw/whole milk for others)
- 1/2 cup sweetener of choice (coconut sugar for paleo/vegan, honey for paleo/GAPS, or liquid stevia for keto)
- 1/4-1/3 cup cocoa powder (I love this organic fair-trade stuff!)
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
Optional add-ins:
- 2 tablespoons kosher, non-GMO collagen (not for vegan, obviously)
- 1-2 teaspoons peppermint extract
Optional garnishes:
Instructions
Pour milk in the Instant Pot liner (I use the Instant Pot Duo 6 quart 7-in-1). Whisk in remaining ingredients until well combined.
Push the ‘sauté ‘ button on the Instant Pot and let the mixture heat up, whisking every now and again to keep it from burning.
When the cocoa is hot enough, turn the IP off and push the ‘keep warm’ button. Leave on warm until all the cocoa is gone. Serve the cocoa as desired.
Notes
This recipe makes about 8 servings. The recipe can be doubled or cut in half, as desired.
