The anatomy of fat bombs.
As my dear husband was helping with the video for this post, he questioned the name. “Fat bombs? What are those?” If you’re like him, and you’ve never heard of fat bombs before, let me get you up to speed.
Fat bombs are high-fat, low-carb and low-protein snacks for people on the keto diet. I’m not on the keto diet, but I am on the GAPS intro diet, and fat bombs work pretty well on that diet too after stage 3! These little treats are a great source of energy for people who want or need to add healthy fats to their diet.
What about nuts & honey?
Since fat bombs are supposed to be low-protein, most fat bomb recipes you’ll see aren’t made with a lot of nut butter, since it’s high in protein. However, I like to add it in, because it’s also a wonderful source of healthy fats! Almonds are high in unsaturated fatty acids and have protective phytosterol antioxidants as well as plant protein.
Also, since fat bombs are low-carb, they won’t call for honey, either. Usually you’ll find fat bomb recipes calling for something like Swerve, erythritol, or stevia. I like stevia just fine, but I never have it on hand. And as far as the other sweeteners go, they’re low-carb, sure, but they are both quite processed, and I like to stay away from processed foods as much as possible.
Honey is full of vitamins and minerals, friendly bacteria, and is anti-fungal, and probiotic. On top of that, honey is a rich source of phenolic acids and flavoniods (antioxidants), which help eliminate free radicals. So, like most of recipes, I stick with honey in these fat bombs. If you want to use stevia instead, go for it!

Easy Nut Butter Fat Bombs
Like their name implies, these little fat bombs are suuuuuper easy to make. I usually have my 10 year old make them for me. #momoftheyear
Seriously though, she loves to help out in the kitchen and is always whipping up delicious things, like her Apple Almond Granola, or Sour Cream & Sriracha Deviled Eggs. I’m pretty sure she’s going take over this blog before I know it! And that’s fine with me. I’ll just sit back and eat all her food…
So if you have a kiddo who wants to help out in the kitchen, these Easy Nut Butter Fat Bombs are a great place to start!
Also, let me introduce you to my first ever food video! It was pretty fun to make, even though I stayed up waaaaayyy too late with my hubby editing it. I hope you enjoy it! And feel free to stop by my youtube channel and subscribe so you’ll see the next video when it comes out!

Easy Nut Butter Fat Bombs
Free of grain, gluten, eggs, dairy, and refined sugar.
Ingredients
- 1 cup nut butter (like almond or cashew, though I use peanut butter, too)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon honey, raw and local is best! (use low-carb sweetener like stevia for keto)
Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until smooth.
Scoop into a candy mold (I like these ones!), or pour into a silicone loaf pan (like this one). Alternately, you could just line a regular loaf pan with aluminum foil.
