An easy start.
I must admit, it took me a while to get around to trying kombucha. I can still see it vividly in my mind – our first meeting. As a new mom, I was trying to do things right for my family: cooking and baking from scratch, staying away from sugars, additives, and packaged foods.
But fermenting was a whole new ball game. So when my friend opened her cupboard and showed me her scoby (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast), I was thoroughly disgusted.
Spiced apple kombucha.
But kombucha is not only easy to make, it’s jam-packed with antioxidants and nutrients that make it a super drink. And there are a myriad of ways to flavor it. This tasty version is one of my favorites, especially around fall when the apples are in season and extra crisp!
Don’t have a scoby? You can get them here.

I love making kombucha. The scoby thoroughly terrified me when I first saw it, but once you taste it and feel its health benefits that scoby transforms into a magical friend 🙂
I agree, Audrey, though mine is more like a magical monster. Haha! 🙂
