This real food, paleo cranberry coconut daiquiri is a wonderfully festive and healthy drink. It’s bursting with flavor and full of ingredients and nutrients you need to stay hydrated and healthy!
Drinking problems… or not.
I have a confession to make. I don’t think I’ve ever actually had a cocktail. Unless you count fruit cocktail – which I think is nasty. I’m more of a sangria-type – even though I really don’t have those often either.
To be honest, I don’t ever buy alcohol, since I always forget my wallet and I look like I’m 17. Whenever I need to make my homemade vanilla, I always make my husband go buy the vodka I require.
Even though he looks like he’s 20.
Once, during college, we tried to buy beer to make fried fish (my aunt’s delicious recipe), and we almost didn’t make it out of the grocery store because the cashier didn’t believe we were over 21.
And that was 10 years ago…
Now that I feel really old, let’s get back to the daiquiri. 🙂
Cranberry Coconut Daiquiri.
As every recipe should be, this drink is super easy. I’ve filled it with healthy, real-food ingredients like coconut milk, water kefir, fresh cranberries, and sweetened it with honey. I’ve also added a special boost by including magnesium powder.
Magnesium is one of the macro-minerals our bodies need to build bones, have healthy nerve function, and convert our food into energy. Plus it has a great subtle zingy flavor – not that you need added zing when cranberries are involved.
I like to use my homemade coconut milk in all my recipes, since it’s easy to make and I can control all the ingredients (you can’t get much cleaner than coconut and water). My water kefir also comes from my kitchen, and it’s full of probiotic goodness.
Flexible rating.
You can use rum flavoring for a G-rated version, real rum for an adult, or just leave it out altogether if you’re not into that sort of thing. I would caution against rum flavoring, since it’s usually full of corn syrup, food colorings, and other completely unnecessary ingredients.
