Tasty Highlights from 2014

Usually, at the end of every year, I’ve gone back through the blog and showcased the recipes that seemed to get overlooked – even though they were awesome. This year, though, I’ve decided to instead highlight one recipe that I loved from each month of the past year.

So, without further ado, here are my favorite recipes from 2014… Enjoy!

January – Quick & Easy Veggie Lentil Soup

By far this month was highlighted by my use of this soup. Free of pretty much everything except sprouted lentils, carrots, and peas (with a dairy-free option), my family practically lived on this!

February – Quick Fix Dark Hot Chocolate Shots

No, these weren’t for Valentine’s Day. They were simply used in a celebration of children going to sleep…

March – Coconut & Avocado Grasshopper Bars

These dairy-free, refined sugar-free, food coloring-free goodies are by far my most popular recipe ever. And there is no reason why they shouldn’t be. 😉

April – Soaked Granola Muffins

Muffins, granola bars, cookies… this recipe is very versatile, and one of my family’s favorites. Especially my gluten-loving husband’s. 😉

May – Scalloped Zucchini & Crookneck Squash

I love traditional scalloped potatoes (the gluten-free version, that is), so with the abundance of summer squash came this tasty rendition.

June – Gluten Free Soaked Pizza Crust

Every Monday night is pizza and family movie night around here – this is one of our favorite crusts!

July – Simple Homemade Sauerkraut

During my family’s stint with the GAPS Diet, homemade sauerkraut was a staple in our kitchen. Not only did we eat the kraut, we drank the juice, as it’s full of probiotics necessary for healing a leaky gut!

August – Coconut & Watermelon Popsicles

My kids are watermelon fiends. Seriously. Some summer days all we have for lunch is watermelon. And after we eat the tasty insides, my kids make crafts out of the rinds… and I pickle the leftover ones (look for that recipe coming this summer!).

September – Easiest Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes

Though my Garlic & Herb Sourdough Crackers gave these a run for their money, there was no doubt about it: everybody loves a good fluffy buttermilk pancake!

October – How to Make Your Own Baking Powder

I love finding easy hacks for store-bought staples, even though I’m not the best about posting them on the blog. But this easy DIY baking powder “recipe” is one I use so often I thought I’d better share it…

November – Easy Gluten-Free Carbonara

No need to find a fancy Italian restaurant with gluten-free pastas, this easy carbonara is definitely a family favorite!

December – Spiced Dark Chocolate Cake

This, without a doubt, was one of my favorite things I’ve made in the past year. Seriously, I could eat it any time of day – and without any refined sugar or grain, it’s practically healthy!
