This recipe is a modification of the Gluten Free Focaccia Flax Bread recipe over at Whole New Mom. Check that one out if you don’t have any egg allergies.  🙂
Flax & Chia Flatbread by Raia's Recipes

This bread tastes wonderfully used for a sandwich, topped with mozzarella cheese and broiled for 2 minutes, or my personal favorite way: toasted and buttered.  🙂

Flax & Chia Flatbread
Grain, Gluten, Egg, Dairy & Sugar Free

  1. 5 T. chia meal (ground up chia seeds)
  2. 1 c. water
  3. 2 T. honey
  4. 1/4 c. hot water
  5. 1/4 c. + 2 T. applesauce
  6. 2 c. flax meal
  7. 1 T. baking powder (try my homemade, aluminum and corn-free version here.)
  1. Preheat oven to 350 and grease a cookie sheet.
  2. In large bowl, combine the chia meal and water.
  3. In separate bowl, combine the honey and hot water; stir until honey is dissolved.
  4. When dissolved, add to chia mixture along with applesauce.
  5. Mix in flax meal.
  6. Sprinkle baking powder on top and stir until well combined.
  7. Let set for a few minutes, then spread onto prepared pan with a rubber spatula.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until springy and browned on the edges.
  9. Cool on pan, then cut into squares with a pizza cutter.
  10. Store in covered container.
