All the smoothies.
The first time I made this shake was wayyyy back when I first started this blog. I’d just recently gone gluten-free after the birth of my son, and after finding my feet in the world of gluten-free food, I decided to dive into the smoothie world.
I never came back.
Smoothies have become a staple in my family. We wake up with them for breakfast, snack on them for lunch, and even use them for dessert. There’s pretty much not a time when smoothies wouldn’t be appropriate in my house.
When I was updating the photos for this recipe, I just couldn’t help keeping this one of my son as a 1-year old with a smoothie-stache after syphoning off half my carob zucchini milkshake!
Who cares if it’s an old, tacky photo – his cheeks!
Zucchini love.
Along with my love of smoothies, going gluten-free opened my eyes to the wider world of veggies that I’d never really tried before. One of them being zucchini.
I’d tried it once as a kid, and like most kids, didn’t really give it a chance. But as an adult it’s one of my favorites! I love to make it into pasta, stick it in cake, and of course in this smoothie…
If you’ve been blessed with an overabundance of zucchini, I strongly suggest you give this shake a try. You’d seriously never know there was squash in it! And the carob and cinnamon pair with it in an absolutely lovely way.
If you’re not a fan of carob, you can totally substitute cocoa powder here, it’s delicious either way.
